Health and aesthetics
Over time, the skin of the face loses elasticity and firmness, leading to bags, folds, and wrinkles that may result in an aged or tired appearance, and may also cause discomfort that affects the visual field.
Ocular plastic surgery is the best treatment for both aesthetic and functional conditions. Superficial skin defects can be corrected and new cells generated using the peeling technique.
What is ocular plastic surgery?
Oculoplastic surgery includes all surgical techniques aimed at resolving eyelid conditions, both cosmetic (upper and lower blepharoplasty, eye bags) and functional (eyelid margin malposition, reconstructions, skin lesions), since in many cases, the health and proper function of the eyelids and eyelashes are vital for visual function.
Treatment
Two types of techniques are used to perform ocular plastic surgery:
- Blepharoplasty: Focuses on correcting age-related changes in the eyelids. With this surgery, we remove excess skin and fat to rejuvenate the eyelids.
- Botulinum Toxin: A toxin that works by blocking nerve impulses directed to all the muscles into which it is injected. The purpose is to reduce wrinkles or expression lines formed through facial movements.
Requirements
According to specialists, the recommended steps before surgery are:
- Ask questions and speak with the ophthalmologist.
- Avoid certain medications.
- Have someone accompany you on the day of the surgery and stay with you during the first eight hours.
